14h54 : sometimes, more dense plumes show a stronger strombolian activity.

19h : activity is going down ats the light becomes wonderful.

12th August, 7h46 : after a very and too quiet night, strombolian activity becomes stronger and stronger. We go up new active cone, in front of very recent lavaflows. Picture : Patrick Barois.

8h58 : suddenly, strombolian activity becomes continous and very strong.

9h22 : strombolian activity becomes still stronger, Etna's guides push down tourists and ask us to move more to the North, to avoid scorias.

9h32 : very strong strombolian activity is hidden by a column of tefra some kilometers high, some minutes before lava fountains become apparent .

9h51 to 9h58 : fountains of lava are there and statrt to be visible down the black plume.

9h58 : clouds of cenders.

10h : two fountains of lava are clearly apparent.

10h07 : plume is up enough to mask he sun.

From 11h42, one hour later, fountains of lava weaken fast and a wonderfiul and very black plumes appears.
